Clermont’s Annual Pig on the Pond -
Beginning as a community event, this pork-filled extravaganza has turned
into one of the top barbecue events in the state of Florida. More than
20,000 people attended the Eighth Annual Pig on the Pond event in March
of 2006. For families and local barbecue connoisseurs the event is
an opportunity to socialize at the city’s waterfront park, but
for 30 professional barbecue teams it is all business. For information
about the Ninth Annual Pig on the Pond, March 8th, 9th & 10th,
call (352) 516-7771, e-mail biddlerosie@aol.com or log on to www.pigonthepond.org
Annual Senior Nationals Soaring
Championships – March
11th -17th. You will see the latest "State of the Art" sailplanes
all staged for take-off. An impressive sight! We are the birth and
the home of the Senior Soaring Championship which was started in 1991
and is held every year in March. It brings 50-60 top pilots from the
U.S., Canada and the U.K. here to compete. Seminole-Lake Gilder port.
Renninger’s Antique Market, Mount Dora: antiques
and collectibles from 150 dealers to 500 dealers every weekend
The Citrus Tower has been around
since the fifties. Now it's surrounded by neighborhoods and grove graveyards,
but the view is still fun to see. There is a penny drop at the top
where you put coins in and they fall all the way to the ground. We
recommend visiting the Wax Presidents Museum next door while you're
at there. www.roadsideamerica.com
